1:1 Somatic Sessions
with Ev’Yan Whitney

How would it feel to be fully in your body?

A body you trust. A body you feel good in. A body you can stay connected to, even when stress and pressure are trying to take you out.

Who would you be if you were more present, open, and connected?

What would that make possible?

As a somatic practitioner, my work is to help you remember how to be in your body in ways that awaken, affirm, and delight you.

Through intentional, body-based practices and gentle inquiry, we’ll partner together to uncover what your body knows, what you desire, and what’s getting in the way of your aliveness.

This isn’t about fixing you or forcing you to be something you’re not. It’s about deepening your connection to all parts of you—your sensations, emotions, moods, and what you long for.

It’s about softening the parts of you that have been habitually numbed, shamed, or shrunken by oppression, trauma, and burnout.

This work is about guiding you back home to yourself.

Your body is a site of connection, healing, pleasure, and deep knowing.

This fast-paced world has made you forget. Through our work, I’ll help you slow down and remember.

Book a Discovery Call

“Through my work with Ev’Yan, I came to realize how disembodied I had become, how I was distanced from even the sensations of my body and where I felt things. Being directed and observed by Ev’Yan’s calming and assuring voice made me feel safe to explore what inhabiting my body could feel like. By the end of our session, I could feel my fingertips for the first time in a history of dissociating as an adult. This experience brought me back into the present, making friends with my own body, and finding safety in inhabiting it after a long life of feeling separate. Thank you, Ev’Yan, for helping me feel welcome back inside myself. Incredibly grateful for this work.”

How I work:

My work is informed by a few healing modalities: breathwork, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, dance and movement, and somatic coaching. Because of my background in pleasure activism, my approach with somatics also includes sensuality—the practice of using our senses, and what feels good through them, to explore, deepen, and heal our connection to aliveness.

Within this sensual-somatic framework, we’ll slow down and bring curiosity to your own mind-body-pleasure connection, exploring your wants and what’s getting in the way of you making them real.

What we’ll do:

In our sessions, we’ll explore an array of practices and techniques to get you feeling yourself. Things like movement, self-touch, breathwork, somatic bodywork, and body-based questions to help you access the wisdom of your body. We’ll get curious about the scripts you’ve internalized that keep you desensitized and dissociated, and explore new ways of being in your body that encourage you to feel more free, open, and joyous.

All of this will be done in a collaborative, trauma-informed, decolonial container rooted in care, consent, and curiosity. We’ll always move at your pace.

Everything we do—how we act, want, feel, disconnect, relate, and heal—happens through the body, and yours is so wise.

Let’s work together to discover what your body knows, what it desires, and how it wants to be transformed.

Book a Discovery Call

Let’s work together if you want to:

  • Slow down and be present with and in your body, rather than on autopilot

  • Deepen your capacity to be with and feel your emotions

  • Embody your boundaries and what you care about

  • Be able to hear the voice of your body and understand its messages

  • Build more intimacy with yourself and with others

  • Heal intergenerational trauma and inherited narratives of shame, oppression, and self-abandonment

  • Make joy and pleasure a priority in your life instead of dissociation and numbness

I work with people who are burnt out, disconnected, and numb, but intuitively know they’re meant to feel so much more—more presence and aliveness, more of themselves.

I especially prioritize working with Black, Brown, queer, trans, and other marginalized individuals whose bodies have been shaped by systemic oppression. Bodies they’ve been taught not to trust. Bodies that are hard to feel safe and soft in.

If you want to discover new ways of being in your body that remind you of your softness and aliveness, this work is for you.

“Before connecting with Ev’Yan, my body existed in a state of numbness. Ev’Yan’s guidance was compassionate and inviting, empowering me to drop into myself during each session and to listen to the soft, subtle cues from my body that I had spent most of my life ignoring. Through our work together, I learned to reconnect with my body in a more expansive way. Most importantly, working with Ev’Yan taught me that when I feel disconnected, numb, or adrift, my body is the place I can return to. They gave me the tools I need to come back to myself, again and again—to remember that the wisdom is already within me, and that I have learned how to listen.”

I believe that feeling ourselves is how we get free.

    • Somatic Coaching and Bodywork training, Strozzi Institute (Aug. 2022 - May 2023)

    • Somatics, Trauma, and Resilience, Staci K Haines (June 2025)

Some of my teachers have been: Prentis Hemphill, Staci Haines, adrienne maree brown, and Richard Strozzi. I have also studied with generative somatics and The Embodiment Institute.

I’ve spent over a decade working with people to help them remember how to be in their bodies—mindfully, joyfully, easefully. It might seem like pain, dissociation, hypervigilance, and desensitization are just who you are, but you are so much more.

You are meant to feel deeply connected to yourself. You’re meant to feel good. And your healing and liberation can also feel good. When you’re fully in your body, you’ll discover a wellspring of wisdom, sensory joy, and resilience that lives there.

Our work will help you embody your healing and be who you want to become.

I would love to create a soft space for you to feel and heal yourself.

Questions + Answers

  • Somatics is a methodology that works to heal the mind-body connection. Through specific body-based practices, somatics helps us remember how to be in our bodies (and be with other bodies) in ways that affirm and sustain us, even when we’re under pressure. Dominant culture prioritizes the thinking mind as the pinnacle of intelligence and healing. Somatics sees the body as just as wise and capable.

Somatics is an embodied theory that guides us to hear, heal, and be in deeper relationship with our sensations, emotions, actions, and desires. From that awareness and relationship, we deepen our capacity to feel ourselves, others, and life happening around us. In somatics, we work through the body to practice being who we want to become for the sake of individual, communal, and collective liberation.

You don’t have to have prior experience with somatics to work with me, but it’s helpful if you are at least curious about it!

  • No. While this work might have some topics and techniques that seem to crossover with therapy, this is not therapy and I am not a therapist.

With that in mind, this work can be incredibly impactful when done alongside therapy, especially if you want to explore ways of being and healing that are body-based, rather than thought- and mind-based.

*Note: If you have acute trauma or are in an active mental health crisis, please reach out to a licensed mental health professional.

  • I define sensuality as an embodiment method that helps us connect and tune into not just our bodies, but the pleasure that we always have the potential to experience there. I know that sensuality and pleasure are words with a lot of sexual connotation. My work over the last 14 years has focused on demystifying, decolonizing, and reclaiming sensuality, making it another accessible pathway for us to come back to our aliveness.

Pleasure—the experience of feeling good in our bodies and being satisfied through our senses—is a big force in my work. I see pleasure as a portal that creates change and encourages our softening. Pleasure taps us into our longing for connection, presence, justice, and deep satisfaction.

Through our work, we’ll get curious about your own relationship to pleasure, the potential shame or blocks that live there, and explore the ways you want to rewrite those narratives through your body.

  • Each session will be a mix of verbal and internal processing, and body-based practices.

We’ll begin with a grounding meditation and check-in. From there, and based on what you’re arriving with, we’ll engage in practices to bring gentle curiosity to what’s alive in you, the patterns you’re holding in your body, and what wants to be transformed. Each session will build on the other and bring you closer to understanding your body’s wisdom, needs, and how it speaks to you.

Sometimes we’ll use organic movement, dance, writing prompts, and playful assignments to bring in a sense of discovery and curiosity during this work. No matter what, I’ll always make + hold space for anything else that might come up as we’re in session.

  • Most people know me for my work as a sexuality doula and sex educator since 2011. In recent years, I’ve gradually moved away from sex and sexuality being the main focus of my work, and I’m centering theory and practice of pleasure, sensuality, and embodiment more.

That said: What I’ve learned during my time as a sexuality doula has informed this sensual-somatic work I’m doing now. It will always be a part of me and in a lot of ways, this work feels like a continuation of what I’ve always done—just with a different focus.

If you come to this work wanting to bring curiosity and healing to your body and pleasure in the realm of sex and sexuality, I would love to make space for that. It’s also okay if it doesn’t come up too.

  • Somatic bodywork is a powerful, hands-on, non-sexual bodywork modality that uses physical touch and breathwork to explore the habitual holding patterns of your body. It is done fully clothed and in a reclined position.

Somatic bodywork helps bring aliveness to the body and deepens your connection to yourself, working on specific pressure points that tend to hold tension or armoring. I will always get your consent and connect to your needs and boundaries first before offering bodywork.

*Note: Somatic bodywork is available for in-person, LA-based clients only.

  • The investment is $3,500 for a three-month program, which entails one 60-minute session per week for 12 weeks. I accept payment plans and reserve a small number of sliding scale spots in my practice per year.

If you're interested in working with me but cost is a barrier, please reach out to me and we’ll work together to find a solution.

  • This is for you if you want to slow down and be more in tune with your body and not so much in your head.

This is for you if you crave a deeper connection to yourself, others, and the world around you, but things like burnout and habitual trauma responses keep you closed off and numbed.

This is especially for you if you long to be in a trusting and responsive relationship to yourself, one that dignifies your emotions, honors your needs, and moves you toward all the things you care about.

  • I’m excited that you want to explore working together! The next steps are to book a call with me so we can get to know each other and I can hear more about where you’d like to begin.

If we’re a good fit, we’ll map out the logistics of what working together will look like and answer any questions you might have. I’d love to connect with you.

“My work with Ev'Yan has been a completely transformational experience. I never expected to have such an incredible outcome after working with someone in such a small space of time, but Ev'Yan's approach is so beautiful, so understanding and encouraging, I felt able to open up in ways I would never have felt comfortable opening up to a stranger before. I have come away from my work with Ev'Yan with insight, healing and life lessons, but I have also come away with a dear friend.”

“The biggest transformation [in working with you] was changing my perspective about sexuality. I went from feeling so much shame and fear to feeling very curious and open. I'm able to talk about my sexuality and experience (or lack of) without embarrassment. I feel softer towards myself and more connected to my body. I never thought I'd feel confident navigating my sexuality, but I can honestly say I do now.”

— Bianca N.

“This work has been so transformative. While I initially had the goal to feel more comfortable in my queerness, our work together has been more expansive than just that. I cut ties to things that no longer served me, released old stories, and planted seeds for a version of myself that I couldn't dream up in the beginning of our work. I feel like I can breathe again!”

— Saqera K.

“Working with Ev'Yan was the absolute best investment I could have ever done for myself. I would recommend this work to anyone. I understand my deepest desires, not just on a sexual level but on an emotional level, a body level, a soul level. I feel more confident in myself than I ever have before and that confidence has integrated itself into every aspect of my life. From my relationship with myself, with others and my career, it has truly been life-changing.”

— Marina M.

“Working with Ev'Yan was both a pleasure and a gift. [They were] everything I could have imagined, considering I have been a long time fan and follower of [their] work. By having these open and honest discussions I began tearing down the walls of shame and discomfort and ultimately discovered a voice that I never knew existed with such strength. I am truly blessed to have spent the time I did working with [them] and finding that I am a truly sexually liberated woman at the core of my being.”

— Carla M.

“I am in absolute awe of the transformation and blossoming that has taken place for me while working with Ev'Yan. It's been literal magic. [Ev’Yan] created the safest, most empowering space for me to explore my deepest desires, and has helped me completely redefine my relationship with my body.”
