Episode 39: Cats are Sluts With Kristen Sollée

Ev’Yan sits down with writer, educator, and former guest of The Sexually Liberated Woman podcast, Kristen Sollée. Ev’Yan and Kristen reminisce about their previous conversation from Episode 7: A Slut is a Sexually Liberated Woman and chat about the book Kristen wrote since then, “Witches, Sluts, Feminists: Conjuring the Sex Positive”.

They get a little vulnerable about their own journeys and decisions to claim themselves as sluts and witches, and vent a little bit about how consumerism and capitalism has affected their ability to feel like they can use the words. Kristen also drops a gem of knowledge and encouragement to Ev’Yan about how to battle the feeling of not being enough.

Then, Kristen dives into her exciting upcoming book “Cat Call: Reclaiming the Feral Feminine” and highlights the ways in which cat-inspired looks and mannerisms have paralleled femininity throughout cultures and generations. Terms like “cat call” and “pussy” and “cougar” are just a few examples of the ways that history has consistently aligned with and taken inspiration from feline and feminine energy, and Kristen goes deep into the how and the why.

This fun and engaging conversation will definitely make you look at cats in a totally different light.
